What surprised me most is how normal they look when I’m wearing them. They don’t feel like some oversized piece of tech. Most people don’t realize they’re smart glasses until I show them I can record what I’m seeing, take a call, or use the AI. That reaction never gets old.
I wear prescription glasses every day, so switching between regular glasses and smart glasses was never something I wanted to deal with. Being able to get my prescription in the Y4 changed that. I can wear them like my everyday glasses and still have the smart features with me.
The camera was the main reason I bought them. A few days after they arrived, I caught a moment with my family that happened way too fast for me to grab my phone. I already had the glasses on, so I got it from my own point of view. Watching it back later was probably the moment I realized why hands-free recording is so useful.
I didn’t buy the Y4 specifically for translation, but it became one of my favorite features on a recent trip. I used it for quick questions, menus, and simple conversations throughout the day. The best part was not having to stop, unlock my phone, and open a translation app every time.
I’m not the kind of person who buys every new gadget, so I was a little worried there would be a big learning curve. Setup was much easier than I expected, and after the first couple of days everything started to feel pretty natural. Now I just use the feature I need without really thinking about it.
I expected to use the camera and translation the most, but the AI has been the biggest surprise. If I see something I don’t recognize, I can just ask about what I’m looking at instead of pulling out my phone and searching for it. The first few times I used it, I honestly kept looking for random things to ask about just to see what it could recognize.
